First Valentine's

Last year I was convinced my baby girl would be here before Valentine's Day. She was born almost a week later. So last Friday was Paige's very first Valentine's Day. I'm sure she loved it! She will probably love it even more next year when she can have chocolate and candy.

Starbucks was having BOGO that afternoon, so Paige tagged along while Daniel and I celebrated with lattes. We've also been having lovely weather lately, so we enjoyed the sunshine!

My in-laws took Paige for the evening, so Daniel made me a fancy dinner and dessert! We had steak, potatoes, and asparagus. It was so yummy!!!!

Saturday we went to the park. The sun was out and the temps weren't too bad, but it was windy! Paige loved the swing! When we took her out to go home she clearly let us know she was not happy about it.

Sunday, she wore her little cupcake outfit. Oh my gosh I couldn't even handle the cuteness!!!!

She loves being outside! Today was so nice we let her run around in just her diaper. She got dirty and tried to eat the leaves. It wasn't going to be bath night, but she was needing one after all the running around she did.

cutie pie!

Today we went to the library. Paige turns 1 tomorrow and I think i'm very slowly starting to accept it. These pictures of her walking around make her look so big. In my mind she's still just a little baby.

We are having her birthday party on Saturday, so tomorrow we are just doing little celebrations. We are reserving her first chocolate experience for her cupcake on Saturday, but I thought it'd be fun to go get donuts in the morning and let her have a donut hole or something. I'm very interested to see how she likes sugar :)

Our little Cupcake and a question

Here's a quick recap of what we've been up to lately!

Let's back up....Superbowl! It's really all about the food. So I made this Smores pie and it was sooo good! Even the leftovers were good-just heat it up for a few seconds, and YUM!

I thought it would be hard to make the top crust, but it was pretty easy!

Paige has been getting some good piggy back rides around our house. Grandma was giving her one the other day and Paige just lay her head down. It was so sweet!

Daniel's parents have a play tent and tunnel, but Paige hasn't been very interested in them. We got the tunnel out again the other day, and she finally went in the tunnel and played by herself.

I can't believe how fast Paige is changing. Every day she does something new! Today she started putting her hands over her face to play peek a boo with us. I can tell her to go get Babydoll or her Bunny and she will go get them. It's so crazy!

Last Friday, Paige and I took a little road trip to Dallas, to see our friends Jen and Anna for the night. Jen was a bridesmaid in my wedding, and I love that we both have little girls now.

Anna is a few months older than Paige, and they played really well together. Paige loved all the "new" toys!

We tried to take a few pics with us all together, but with two little ones that's almost impossible. So this is the best we got!

Last Sunday we all got a little scare.....it was really slick out and we all slipped and fell on the ice. It was SO scary to see Paige's head on the concrete. One of the scariest mommy moments. But thank the Lord, she just had a tiny red mark and was completely fine!

Better late than never, Paige got her flu shot today. She was a champ and didn't even cry.

I can't believe that a week from today she will be 1. I'm so in denial about this. I keep seeing how much she's growing and changing, but it's hard for me to not have my little baby anymore. And speaking of.....I need some mommy advice.

How do you know when it's time to wean?

Right now i'm still nursing 4 times a day. Paige does well nursing and with a bottle, so I don't think she will care. But I can't decide how I feel about it. Sometimes I'm so ready to wean and get my body back. Other times, I can't imagine not nursing her. I know it looks different for everyone. I just can't seem to make up my mind. I'm afraid I'll wean and then regret it. I don't have a strong reason to, other than it would make it easy to go places and it would be easier to run in the morning.

Mommy's-how did you know when it was time?

thanks for your thoughts!

Date Nite

I follow Dating Divas on Pinterest. It's a website with tons of great date ideas-they range from completely free, to at home, romantic, and everything in between. I saw this one that was free and done at a bookstore. Daniel and I love going to Barnes & Noble, so I surprised Daniel with this date last night. I just printed out the sheets, it was SO easy!

After Paige's last feeding, she went to bed and stayed at home with grandma and grandpa. We first hit up Starbucks to use a giftcard we were given (thanks mom!) then I gave Daniel his note for the date. When we arrived at B&N, we each got the same task card of things to do/find. We ended up doing them together.

There are 2 parts of the bookstore date, but we just did one. We are saving part two for next time. It's basically a mini scavenger hunt-with instructions on what to do. For example, it said to find a magazine with a quiz and take it together. This part was hysterical! We laughed pretty hard taking the quizzes!

We did the quizzes in 2 teen girl magazines. It was hilarious! We weren't sure how accurate one quiz was because we didn't know enough pop culture to answer the questions! One of the questions, was Which person from One Direction are you? We both knew it was a band, but nothing else, so we just guessed. It is OBVIOUS that we are not up to date on the lingo or aware of who the famous people are. At least in the tween world anyway.

The instructions say to leave 3-4 hours for this date, but we did part one in about an hour. I could see how you could stretch it out though. We tried to give 5-10 minutes for each part.

I would highly recommend this date-it's so much fun and free!

oh and PS!! Daniel just got his blog up and running again, so head on over!

Baby Toddler

Paige has been in her crib for over an hour now playing. I think she's just about to fall asleep. Surely, she is just about to fall asleep. Sheesh.

Baby girl is growing up so fast, and Daniel is determined to make me accept it. He keeps referring to her as a toddler and making me cry. She is STILL a baby and will always be a baby to me. Even if my 11 month old is full on walking. I'll post pics soon.

It's been cold here lately, and we're about to get 3 waves of snow/ice/and sleet. I used to love snow days, but when you have a baby, (not a toddler), being stuck inside for days isn't the best for anyone. We were inside for a few days in a row recently, and finally decided we had to get out. And any reason to wear our cute cupcake hat is a win.

We've also been spending lots of time in our pj's. Because hello, baby in footed pajama's, what is not to love? And of course, Paige isn't lacking in her Grandpa snuggles.

(see BABY! she's so tiny and cute when she sucks her thumb. Someone. anyone. please agree with me!)

A few days ago, a friend offered us free tickets to the OU basketball game. It was last minute and I had never been to a game so we scooped them up. I chattered non stop about how excited I was, and Daniel quickly realized, I have got to get out of the house more.

But being indoors and cold makes me want to bake. I made blueberry muffins from scratch for the first time, and they were delish! Here's the recipe. I will say, they really are best the first two days, after that they were just 'eh.'

I got a bundt pan for Christmas and I made chocolate chip pumpkin bread/cake. It was really good and I was giddy with how it came out! I'm going to try this Cinnamon Roll recipe soon, I can't wait! She has several that I want to try. My sister made a chocolate one and said it was yummy.

Random, but has anyone watched the Wahlburger's show? I watched both episodes and loved them! Really made me wish I had grown up with brothers.

Also, yesterday afternoon I joined my SIL at a nursing moms group. I'll clearly spare you the details, but it was fun and something new. There was a first time mom there with her 5 day old, who was struggling to figure it out. Been there! And can I just say, SO glad I'm not there anymore! I love nursing, but those first few days for a new mom, where you have no idea what's going on....whew.

Tomorrow we plan to go grocery shopping before the crazies get out and take all the bread. We will of course be watching the Superbowl too. I'm not overly committed to cheering for any team, but I get excited to watch a good game. I'm planning to make guacamole and drink Coke in a fancy glass.

Happy early Groundhog Day!
