Weekend Rewind

When the 5 o'clock whistle blew on Friday, we were G-O-N-E!!!

Kind of.....there were tons of grass fires around the state and lots of construction, so our normal trip took us a little over an hour longer than usual.

But what made the drive better, was the amazing sunset! It's one thing Oklahoma can totally brag about.

We pulled into my parents house, said hello, and fell into bed. It was one of the busiest weeks, and we were beyond exhausted.

Here's where it gets interesting.......

The "plan" was to get up Saturday morning and run 10 miles.

ha!!

We woke up a little before 7 and both our throats hurt and we were still SO tired. So i laid in bed till about 7:30, and easily convinced Daniel that it was okay to forego our long run. But we HAD to make up for it in the next 2 weeks.

He agreed and we easily transitioned into lazy weekend mode.

I totally stand by our decision. It made the rest of the morning and day so much more relaxed, and i needed the break. We spent the morning talking with my parents, sipping coffee (which Dad does all caffeine, so i was wired!!! I mix half reg/half decaf at our house), and being lazy. Mom made an amazing breakfast and we just relaxed.

(me posing with mom's china!)

I had a hair cut  in the afternoon, which i have been counting down to. I love my hair lady....i've been going to her for years, and i trust her completely. She has never made me cry or hate my life....success in the hair world, hahahaha!

That night we are pizza, and I had begged my mom before we got there to use her chocolate fountain. This is of course when i  thought i'd be running 10 miles and had 1000 extra calories to spare. Ah well, waste not!!

We dunked strawberries, pretzels, marshmallows, and graham crackers. Give me a chocolate covered marshmallow ANY day!!

It was SO good!!!

After eating till we were in pain, we played Spades. Let's just say it wasn't even close, and the girls rocked it!

The next morning, Daniel and I spoke at my dad's church. It was great, and such a blessing to be there.

Before the service started, one of the church members (who i've met and talked with several times), came up and shook our hands to say hi. As he was shaking my hand, he kind of drew me closer (i was down a bit from Daniel), and i was like "is he going to kiss my hand?" Yes, chivalry isn't dead, hahahaha kidding!

But he pulled my hand closer, looked at me and said "You've lost weight!. Right....??? you look like you've lost weight."

It was really the hi light of the week for me right there. My mom and Daniel had told me that same thing this weekend, but a stranger who kind of knows you tells you, and that is just HUGE!! And he's a cute older man, so it wasn't awkward, it just fed my ego, ha!!!

(disclaimer: i haven't lost any weight, the scale has been the exact same number since my half marathon in Oct, but i'll take what i can get :) )

After church we ate Rice Express. I'm not sure if it's a chain or what, but omg, it's delish!!!!!!! I've tried several dishes, and have loved every one of them.

Then we hopped in the car and headed on home!

I ran 5 miles tonight. I LOVE the time change, it's so much nicer to not worry about cars hitting me or feeling rushed to beat the clock. I ran slowly, but the point was that i ran, ha! I wasn't going for speed or anything, it had been almost a week since my last run. And I usually sprint towards the end, but i didn't tonight and that was okay. But I finished feeling amazing and knew i had more in me if i had to keep going. I love runs like that!!!

We just ate asparagus (the love vegetable), salmon, and orzo pasta. And of course, my chocolate milk, yum!

Tomorrow/Wednesday is Chicken Pastina.

THEN.....after work on Wednesday i'm hitting the road yet again to see the Landry's in Houston. I'll warn you now that there will be an overload of nephew pictures. i.cannot.help.myself. And i'll put lots of quotes that i think are hilarious and prob won't make sense out of context....go with it, i'm obsessed. ha!

Any big plans for spring break??? working, staycation?? something exciting??

love
laura

  1. I don't get a spring break with my job, but Dave gets a week off (lucky guy!). We're planning to spend one of his days off at the Jelly Belly factory a few hours away. I can't wait!
